Why professional training matters

Professional guidance.
A clearer path forward.

ICBC explains that driver training develops the skills and attitudes that support safe, confident driving.

ICBC also recommends checking school and instructor licences and choosing a course that fits your needs.

Our expert instruction breaks truck handling and inspection routines into understandable steps. Clear explanations and direct feedback can make knowledge-test concepts easier to understand and help you practise more confidently for your Class 3 road test.

01

Why choose Class 3?

A Class 3 licence allows trucks with more than two axles, including dump trucks and large tow trucks. It suits work involving heavier single-unit vehicles; it does not authorize passenger buses.

Your vehicle, transmission restrictions and any required air-brake endorsement must match the work you plan to do.

02

Understand before you test

Study the relevant sections of ICBC’s Driving Commercial Vehicles guide, then bring your questions to training. Connecting commercial road rules and vehicle knowledge to practical examples helps you work toward understanding rather than simply memorizing answers.

03

Build road-test readiness

Practise a consistent pre-trip inspection, backing, turning and space management with instructor feedback. These habits support test preparation and the daily responsibility of operating a larger truck. Choose automatic or manual training to suit your goals.

Training helps you prepare; passing depends on meeting ICBC’s requirements and demonstrating the required skills.
